Author Bio
Joseph, born on April 2, 1945, in Tallulah, Louisiana, is a remarkable individual whose life journey is as inspiring as his written work. Raised during the era of segregation in the South, Joseph’s early years were marked by the challenges of growing up in a divided society. Despite these obstacles, he enjoyed a happy and supportive upbringing, thanks to his family’s strong values and resilience.
After graduating with a BS from Grambling State University, a master’s from Eastern Michigan University, and completing the National Commercial Lending Graduate School at the University of Oklahoma, Joseph embarked on a successful career in banking. He achieved notable success, culminating in his role as president of a bank in Detroit.
Joseph’s decision to write his book stemmed from a heartfelt desire to preserve his family’s history and legacy. Although he had no prior ambition to be a writer, his mother’s encouragement and his own sense of duty led him to document the story of his great-great-grandfather, a former slave. The book, originally intended as a personal family record, also serves as a source of inspiration for others. It conveys a powerful message about overcoming adversity, the value of education, and the importance of contributing positively to society.
Joseph has been recognized for his contributions to the community with the Spirit of Detroit Award and has served on the boards of various organizations, including Grace Hospital, and First Independence National Bank of Detroit and First of America Bank South East Michigan. His life and work stand as a testament to the belief that regardless of where one starts in life, with determination and effort, remarkable achievements are possible. His book continues to inspire readers to appreciate their own potential and the power of perseverance.
